Varicella Pneumonia

Abstract
Six normal adults with varicella pneumonia were treated successfully with acyclovir sodium. All patients showed resolution of roentgenographlc and arterial blood gas abnormallties. In addition, five of the six patients demonstrated thrombocytopenla that resolved with therapy. intravenous acyclovir therapy should be Instituted as early as possible in patients who may have varicella pneumonia.
