Error in Abstract in: Coronary Artery Calcification Compared With Carotid Intima-Media Thickness in the Prediction of Cardiovascular Disease Incidence: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA)

Arch Intern Med. 2008;168(16):1782.

Error in Abstract. In the Original Investigation by Folsom et al titled "Coronary Artery Calcification Compared With Carotid Intima-Media Thickness in the Prediction of Cardiovascular Disease Incidence: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA)," published in the June 23, 2008, issue of the Archives (2008;168[12]:1333-1339), an error occurred in the text on page 1333. In the second sentence of the "Results" section in the abstract, "traditional CVD risk factors" should be replaced by "age, race, and sex." The corrected sentence reads as follows: "After adjustment for each other (CAC score and IMT) and age, race, and sex, the hazard ratio of CVD increased 2.1-fold (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.8-2.5) for each 1–standard deviation (SD) increment of log-transformed CAC score, vs 1.3-fold (95% CI, 1.1-1.4) for each 1-SD increment of the maximum IMT."
